My lj is my journal. If I want to say something, then I will, within the bounds of what I'm willing to talk about/have on the internet. I'm not writing this for fame and fortune, or for anything else except myself and, secondarily, to discuss things with my friends. And I do mean friends -- people I know, either cyber- or meat-space. I have good friends both ways.
So I am not going to play the "oh dear, I upset you" game with anyone. I will not censor myself in my own space, but I am usually happy to discuss points of difference with my friends, within the bounds of courtesy and good will. If you go beyond those bounds, I might even ban you, though probably not if you ARE a friend. (Hey, is anyone actually reading this who doesn't know me, at least a little? *waits* crickets chirp and chirp some more. no answer. *taps foot* crickets shut up. Didn't think so.)
As for commenters getting into sub-discussions and being all up against each other's faces (which *has* happened, too) -- I say "feel free, if you can be courteous to each other". Otherwise, take it outside, thanks! It's my journal, and I like things to stay calm(ish) and courteous around here.
That's all.
Addendum (2012): I know it can be boring around here, but y'know, one of my actual interests is "peace and quiet". Wry smile. I'm working on keeping a book log of books read this year, and I'll be chronicling my journey with weight loss surgery, so if either of those two topics is cranky-making for you, feel free to not friend me or de-friend me, though I'd like a heads-up, particularly if we're meat-space friends. Just so I don't get all moody because "nobody loves me".
